The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the Church’s ritual process for calling adults to a conversion of mind and heart, preparing them for a full and active life in the Church as disciples of Jesus Christ. During the process, adults participate in liturgical rites that mark the progress of their faith journey and form them more deeply by God’s grace. RCIA culminates with celebrating the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

- Was baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist?
We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm accepting environment.
What is involved?
More than just the liturgical rites are involved. This process includes the following:
Evangelization
The scriptures are the foundation of our faith. They are where God is revealed and invite us into personal relationship with the Trinity. Evangelization also includes learning how to read the signs of God’s presence in our lives and how to respond to it.
Engagement with the community
One’s faith journey is not made alone. The Christian community supports the catechumens in various ways and demonstrates how to live the Christian life.
Catechesis
Catechumens are exposed to the teachings of Jesus and his Church so that they can enter into the mystery of Christ and encounter God.
Formation for mission
Once baptized, we share in Christ’s mission to live as Jesus’ followers and continue his work of fostering justice, building peace and facilitating reconciliation.
The sacraments of initiation
The crowning experience of RCIA is celebrating the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.
How long is the RCIA process?
Because the process of becoming a Christian is about conversion and the transformation of the whole person it is difficult to determine. Every person is treated as an individual.
