There’s something intriguing about the Parables that Jesus uses to teach his followers about the Kingdom of God. On the surface, they describe circumstances, events, and realities that the people of Jesus’ day could relate to. The challenge in understanding the Parables is that to truly get to the heart of Jesus’ message, we have to move beyond that surface level of understanding, and ask ourselves what deeper lesson or message Jesus is trying to convey.
In the case of the two parables we hear today, the lesson has to do with how the Kingdom of God is an ever-present reality, that is meant to pervade the lives of all believers. The growth of the kingdom is brought about by God’s Grace, which often moves in ways we cannot understand or comprehend. This is a reminder to us that God is in control, and that we are called to cooperate with his plan. It may not always be the easy thing to do, but if we place our trust in God, God can work through each one of us to bring about His Kingdom.
On behalf of all of us on the staff of the Windsor Heritage Catholic Family of Parishes, I want to thank you for your patience as we work to reopen our Churches. We are ready to welcome Parishioners back to Daily Mass, beginning on Monday, June 14. We will resume scheduled confessions as well. Mass and Confession schedules can be found on our website. Please remember that seating at weekday Masses is first-come, first-served. Since seating is extremely limited in Rosary Chapel, we invite you to chose one or two days to attend Mass, so that others can have an opportunity to attend. We invite you also to consider attending Daily Mass at St. Alphonsus or St. Angela, since those Church buildings can accommodate more people, and are rarely full for weekday Mass.
Weekend Masses will resume the weekend of June 19-20. Reservations will be required for weekend Masses, as they have been throughout the pandemic. Please note that the schedule for Reservations at Assumption and St. Alphonsus has been modified. Reservations will now open on Tuesdays at 1 pm. Phone reservations will only be accepted on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1 pm- 4pm. If you have access to a computer, we highly encourage you to make your reservations online. Online and telephone reservations will now close on Thursdays at 4 pm.
For St. Angela Merici, reservations must be made via telephone on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, between the hours of 10 am and 3 pm.
All policies regarding COVID screening, physical distancing, and wearing of masks remain in effect. If you need a reminder of these policies, please visit our website.
For those who still do not feel comfortable returning to in-person Mass, know that the Dispensation from the Sunday Obligation, granted by Bishop Fabbro, remains in effect until September. We will continue to live stream the Saturday Italian Mass from St. Angela Merici, and Sunday Mass from Assumption, for the benefit of those Parishioners who remain at home. We also hope to install live streaming equipment at St. Alphonsus in the future, which would give us the ability to stream Mass from all three Parishes.
