A strong leader who plans and executes the Parish’s vision of outreach within the community including St. Alphonsus Cares and displaying dedication to Church mission and values. The Coordinator is experienced and knowledgeable about the various physical, spiritual and psycho-social needs of those living in the parish and neighbourhood, coordinates activities directed towards individuals and families, and will be responsible for the training and on-going recruitment of volunteers to support the Parish’s outreach programs. A background in social work, pastoral ministry, or community programs would be an asset.
The Outreach Coordinator will oversee the budget, scheduling, planning and statistical reporting of the outreach programs including applying for grants when available. The Coordinator should also have some experience with and knowledge of community resources. In all cases, the Coordinator will demonstrate professional values and compassion for all who attend outreach programming.
Reporting to the pastor or his designate, the core duties of the position involve creating and running outreach programs both in person and online, recruiting, training and supervising volunteers, promoting and creating awareness of the programs, overseeing the program budget, working with the property manager and caretaker to ensure that the facility is ready for use.
The coordinator will work 19 hours weekly for a probationary period of three months to set up the program and then 40 hours per week. Weekend and evening work may be required.
